Introduction to Breakout Classic

Atari released Breakout Classic in 1976. Nolan Bushnell and Steve Bristow led that work. Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak joined them. Players slide a paddle beneath rows of bricks while a ball bounces upward to chip away at each one. The goal stays simple and you knock out every brick without letting the ball slip past your paddle.

The paddle moves to set the ball path and clear lines of bricks. The ball picks up speed as levels pass and each bounce can change the outcome. Later editions bring power ups like extra balls. They offer new layouts that boost the challenge.

Breakout Classic shaped a generation of brick breaking games and reached players at home. New versions keep the bounce and break mechanic. They add crisp graphics and richer sound. Players still chase top scores on that solid design and the title holds its place in gaming history.
