Info About Small Worlds

Outsmart Games rolled out a virtual world in 2008 where every player chose an avatar then customized a personal space with furniture and art. Folks met in public squares to take on missions, jump into mini-games or hunt down quests while chatting in real time. It cost nothing to join, but a VIP pass unlocked extra decor and style perks. You could even pull in videos and songs from popular streaming sites right into your rooms.

The world came with seven unique skill tracks and each one had its own level bar. Players joined a PvP arena to test their aim. Others spent hours in crafting workshops, building gadgets or growing plants to earn skill points. Over time the user base shrank and operating funds ran low. The rise of mobile apps and the reliance on Flash sealed its fate in April 2018.

A follow-up called TownCenter aimed to reunite fans and keep the same spirit alive. It never gained enough traction and the studio shelved it in 2021. The shutdown hit loyal players hard and underscored how quickly shifting tech and tastes can leave a virtual world behind.
